A Cartoonishly Bad Legislative Session in Kentucky, Day Three

Something we’ve paid a great deal of attention to here on The Goldenrod during this (very, very) bleak legislative session is breaking down how bills will actually impact rural Kentuckians. Sounds simple, right? Not so much. Many pieces of legislation that have found their way to Governor Beshear’s desk are so obtuse, petty and inside baseball that it’s difficult to see how they’ll shake out for actual citizens in their day-to-day lives.
One of the strangest pieces of legislation that’s been signed into law (!) already is Senate Bill 272, which contains a fascinating clause that could spell trouble for some Kentucky cover bands, tribute singers or associated musical acts who post their performances online without properly revealing that they’re not actually the musical recording group.
